My name is Adam Hendricks and I am the person behind Performance Funnels.
I have been a full time affiliate marketer and funnel hacker for 5 years now since quitting my corporate job.
I have always been somewhat involved in making money online since I was in college (I am 35 now).
Over the years I have pretty much tried everything. Here are some key milestones over the years.
2004
My first foray in making money online.
I started with eBay in college, reselling designer merchandise I used to buy from bigger Powersellers.
I had no idea about profit margins when I started. Lost a bunch of money initially but then found my feet.
Made some money, not a lot but enough to pay for nights out.
2006
Finished college and landed a decent job in finance.
Didn’t particularly enjoy the job, hours were long, but hey it paid the bills and I was doing what I was supposed to be doing right?
Anyway fast forward a few years and I was getting more and more disillusioned with life.
2010
I had always wanted to go to China and check out the Canton Fair, so in 2010 I used up my annual holiday allowance and headed out to China for 3 weeks.
Mind blown.
Before heading out, I had no idea what I wanted to sell.
It was such a buzz being there. I felt alive for the first time in years. Checking out all the different products, visiting factories, seeing deals being made.
At that moment I decided I was going to make this online thing work.
Impressed by the high margins in furniture, I decided to start selling home furniture online.
I made some fatal errors in this business but I learnt more in 18 months running this business than I had in the previous 10 years of life.
I learned everything from sourcing, negotiating with suppliers, dealing with freight and logistics, international compliance, website design, social media, email marketing, paid ads, customer service etc. etc.
I realised what I didn’t like doing.
I enjoyed the sourcing and marketing side but hated dealing with logistics. Furniture was a nightmare product to ship, damages were frequent, and being a small player, it really required massive capital investment.
It was difficult managing this operation and holding down a demanding full time job.
2012
This experience didn’t put me off trying again but instead I took that experience and decided that Amazon FBA and affiliate marketing may be a better fit for me.
Amazon FBA allowed me to use my experience in sourcing and private labelling and marketing but unlike my ecom store before I didn’t have to worry about logistics, self fulfillment and customer service. This was perfect for me because those were the things I disliked, and it wasn’t such a time suck.
‘Passive income’ was something that always piqued my interest so I was always curious about affiliate marketing.
I did a lot of studying around it and took the plunge and bought a content website in the vaping niche off Flippa for $1k.
I figured out how to do keyword research so managed to double the traffic within a year. I was less successful monetising it as I was still learning the ropes but all in all it was a successful experiment as I flipped the site for $4k in less than a year.
Not a huge amount of money but it was still something, but again I learnt from this experience and came back stronger.
The next affiliate site I started in the dog niche netted me 6 figures in 2 years.
Since 2012 I have run many successful international Amazon FBA and affiliate marketing businesses. I have acquired and developed multiple online assets as well as successfully sold and exited from some of my businesses.
2015
By 2015, I had reached a point where my side hustle incomes had comfortably exceeded my job. I quit my job in the summer and never looked back.
2015 was also the first year I started to experiment with ClickFunnels and landing pages. I realised that ClickFunnels was a great tool to generate leads for both online and offline businesses.
I started consulting on funnels and to this day still help businesses grow their business with sales funnels.
2022
Since 2015 I have continued to work on and scale my affiliate and FBA businesses. I also still work with selected consulting clients.
The best thing about this online stuff is the freedom. It has allowed me to spend more time with my family and allowed me to pursue other passions and interests in life.
For the next chapter I want to help more people achieve financial freedom and flexibility like I have managed over the past few years. If I can do it anyone can.
