ClickMagick Review: The Best Click Tracking Tool 2019

I read a lot of great ClickMagick reviews a couple of years ago, but I was reluctant to try the tool for some reason.

First, it’s because I was happy with my click tracking tool back then. And second, everything it claims it can do was just too good to be true for me.

Fast forward to 2018. I finally got the urge to get my hands on it.

And oh, boy! What took me so long?

ClickMagick does exactly what it says on the tin.

Having tried several click tracking tools in the last 10 years, ClickMagick, in fact, exceeds my expectations.

ClickMagick Review Overview

At first glance, ClickMagick looks like a jack of all trades.

Well, it is!

But does it make this click tracking tool a master of none?

Not by any means!

In fact, I’m telling you right now. ClickMagick is the best click tracking tool out there.

How? Why?

That’s what you are going to find out in this ClickMagick review.

In this ClickMagick review, I will give you a lowdown of the best ClickMagick features as well as a few tips and tricks here and there.

What Is ClickMagick?

ClickMagick is a web-based link tracking software designed to manage and track links and ads of all stripes. Social media links, pay-per-click (PPC) ads, solo ads, banners, and media buys — you name it.

Unlike most other click tracking tools, ClickMagick covers all bases of your sales funnel.

From the initial opt-in all the way to the final upsell or downsell, it’s so easy to keep tabs on your funnels. Even follow-up emails and clicks that lead to any actions or sales won’t go unnoticed with ClickMagick.

That’s how accurate ClickMagick is!

ClickMagick Features

ClickMagick claims it has over 120 different features to help you make more money online.

That’s a lot!

It only makes sense to categorize their marketing tools ecosystem to avoid confusion and getting overwhelmed.

I will list all the best ClickMagick features later on, but here’s a quick look at its main navigation menu.

1. Links

This is where you create your tracking links.

ClickMagick will follow each tracking link you create here and collect other data of those who pass through it.

Data may include location, web browser, type of device, and others.

The “Links” menu seems so basic, eh?

Well, not until you explore the “Advanced Settings” where the magic happens.

A few key features here include conversion tracking, pixel code, split testing, and password.

Learn more about these cool ClickMagick features later on.

2. Organic

This is where you can track all the organic traffic to your page.

Traffic from search engines, referrals, and even direct traffic from users typing your URL in their web browser.

However, all organic traffic coming from secure websites (those with HTTPS) cannot be revealed. Secure websites are restricted from passing referrer information.

These types of traffic are reported as “none.”

3. Rotators

For web traffic providers, “Rotators” is the most powerful tool.

This feature allows you to split and send one link to varying destinations based on the rule you assign.

You can choose how your links rotate in different rotator modes such as sequential, spillover, fulfillment, and random.

It’s pretty much like split testing, except there’s no testing.

This is useful for those who sell ads — banners, solos, or even PPC.

4. Content

The “Content” menu has three powerful features.

Some of my favorites, in fact.

MagickPops, MagickBars, and Timers.

You’ll get to know more about these amazing tools later.

5. Tools

Under the “Tools” menu are a handful of useful tools such as Batch Editor, Data Importer/Exporter, IP Lookup, and IP Manager.

Learn more about these features later.

12 Best ClickMagick Features

Tracking clicks is only the basic functionality of ClickMagick.

This tool is packed with bells and whistles, too. Features that aren’t just there for feature’s sake, but features that actually add value to your online marketing business.

Let’s take a look at the most popular and useful ClickMagick features.

1. Tracking Link Sub-IDs

ClickMagick enables you to create unique tracking IDs, so it’s easier to track where certain clicks come from.

How is this useful?

Say, you are using a similar link to an affiliate product and spread that same link all over the site — sidebar ad, pop-up, anchor text, etc.

It’s difficult to track which clicks come from which because you are using the same link.

With ClickMagick, it enables you to use a unique sub-ID for every link source, so it’s easy to track the traffic and conversions.

For instance, I want to add my ClickFunnels affiliate link to three different places: ClickFunnels review post, ClickFunnels lead magnet, and recommended marketing tool page.

ClickMagick allows you to add unique sub-IDs to each of these places.

This allows you to identify where a specific click, lead, or sale comes from.

On ClickFunnels, you can see sub-IDs on reports, so it allows you to point out which link led to a conversion.

Other click tracking tools require you to create multiple tracking links for each affiliate link on top of a sub-ID. That’s just a lot of work!

With ClickMagick, you only need one tracking link and add one or more sub-IDs after backslashes.

Like so:

https://www.track.performancefunnels.com/clickfunnels/subid1/subid2/

Other affiliate programs that support sub-IDs may pass it through like this:

https://www.clickfunnels.com/?cf_affiliate_id=431785&affiliate_id=431785&aff_sub=[s1]&aff_sub2=[s2]

Your subid1 will replace [s1] and subid2 [s2] in the link above.

What about in affiliate programs that don’t support sub-IDs?

Don’t fret!

You can still see the sub-IDs in your ClickMagick stats.

Although this is only one of the few ways how to take advantage of sub-IDs.

2. Link Cloaking

Who likes to click links that look hideous and spammy?

No one. Not a living soul!

Link cloaking allows you to turn long, ugly links into something short and looks worth clicking.

But if this is all you need, you really need not purchase ClickMagick. There are several link shortener tools available out there at no cost.

If you do any sort of marketing that requires users to type in your link in the search bar (like podcasts), link cloaking is a game-changer.

Your site may need to use a CNAME which would attach a prefix to your URL (like so: track.sampledomain.com/yourproduct).

If your site has existing content, reach out to ClickMagick support when linking your custom domain.

Make sure, though, the affiliate program you are linking to allows cloaking of links. Otherwise, you are putting yourself in danger of being kicked out.

3. Link Traffic Quality

One of my favorite ClickMagick features is its ability to qualify web traffic.

ClickMagick can give you a traffic quality score, with 55 as the average score and over 75 as the ideal score.

There are three so-called “Tiers” as one of the important factors in calculating the traffic quality score.

Tier 1 are countries like the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, New Zealand, and Australia.

But more than that…

This functionality comes in handy if you are doing any paid traffic — whether it is from Facebook, Google, or whatever platform.

In the solo ad industry, traffic automated by bots is pretty common.

With ClickMagick, you can see the IP addresses, mobile clicks, and proxy clicks, so you get an idea of the quality of traffic you are getting.

Some desperate competitors will bomb your ads with clicks, for example, just to get you to spend your daily budget more quickly.

Though ClickMagick does not point that out, it definitely helps you figure so if the questionable clicks come from the same IP address and location.

With the help of the tool, What Is My IP, you may be able to confirm your suspicions.

ClickMagick allows you to filter automated clicks, fake IP addresses, proxy clicks, and spiders from your traffic.

4. Split Testing

Each tracking link can also be split-tested.

You can define the percentage of traffic each link should get. Say, 50% each to two different links.

This informs you of the best converting link, so you can bank on that one.

If enabled, ClickMagick can automatically notify you if it’s able to find the winning or high-converting link.

This is pretty nifty for affiliate marketers to test variable links and get immediate results for that.

5. Conversion Tracking

A few years ago, keeping tabs on your affiliate conversions is like herding cats.

It’s impossible!

Can you imagine how difficult it was for us to know if our efforts were actually spinning cash for us?

If you made affiliate sales, there’s no way (at least as far as I’m concerned) for you to find out whether you made those sales through your ads or through an organic traffic source.

This kind of situation is not so nice if you are dealing with paid traffic or ads because you don’t have concrete data to back up or justify decreasing or increasing your ad budget.

If you have monitored conversions before, you know a pixel on a page is necessary to confirm the lead or purchase.

In most websites, a checkout page leads to a thank-you page once a purchase is made.

But…

What if you want to send the user to an external page instead?

This is where ClickMagick comes in handy.

When the user makes a purchase or signs up, the user will be redirected to a blank page (called an interstitial webpage) that has your own pixel before sending you to the actual page.

This happens lightning fast, so much so that an unsuspecting user cannot even notice it.

6. Retargeting Pixels

ClickMagick allows you to add a tracking pixel code from third-party sites like Google, Facebook, and Twitter and re-target anyone who clicks your link.

This functionality presents endless opportunities. You can place pixels from emails, social media, forums, and pretty much anywhere.

Your blog or paid ads are no longer your only source of conversions.

This is another favorite feature of mine, pretty much because it maximizes your traffic.

Using a pixel code doubles your chances of conversion because it allows you to follow your visitors even on external pages.

7. MagickPops

There are lots of tools out there that make pop-ups, but this one’s different.

MagickPops allow you to add a lightbox to a page, EVEN IF you don’t own the website.

You can add an overlay pop-up on a website either to promote your offer or capture leads.

The overlay is only visible to people coming from a link you created using ClickMagick.

However, if HTML is Greek to you, using MagickPops might be a pain in the ass because the editor is somewhat restricted.

Although, you can copy and paste the HTML for your email template. But it depends on your email service provider.

It offers four different pop-ups, namely:

  • On-load pop-up – appears as soon as your visitor lands on your page.
  • Exit pop-up – appears when your visitor attempts to leave your page.
  • Delayed pop-up – appears after a specified time.
  • Redirect – redirects user to another page after exiting

If you are using ClickFunnels, this is quite useful.

You can start collecting leads, promote your offer, or share videos without having a website or any permission.

8. MagickBars

Also called the ribbon feature, MagickBar allows you to add an overlay bar or strip to the top or bottom of a page, even if the website isn’t yours.

MagickBar is best used to display information or banner ads.

Doing so also looks like the website is endorsing that page or whatever is advertised on that page.

Pretty nifty, but not a lot of people are happy with this feature, though, alongside MagicPops and Countdown Timer.

Some people — marketers and content creators alike — don’t think it’s fair to the website owners.

Though, the overlay is only visible to people coming from a link you created using ClickMagick.

9. Countdown Timer

And the secret weapon of MagickBar is the Timer tool.

Basically, the Timer tool allows you to add a countdown timer. ClickMagick can trigger a countdown timer on every link for conversion purposes.

You can customize your countdown timer based on evergreen or date-based timers and styling.

If you are not new to sales and marketing, you know making scarcity creates a sense of urgency.

It makes people more likely to buy.

Do not use the scarcity technique more often than you should because it could water down the power of the urgency it creates.

10. Link Downtime Monitoring

ClickMagick has a link monitoring system that alerts you in real-time when your links are down or unresponsive.

Some of you might think it is just a simple inconvenience, normal to experience once in a while.

But for some serious online entrepreneurs that spend big bucks on paid ads and traffic, this ClickMagick feature is a lifesaver.

I experienced this first hand a couple of months back when I was running a ClickFunnels campaign.

Little did I know that my page was down for some reason.

I was able to stop the campaign until everything went back to normal.

If it weren’t for the email and SMS alert ClickMagick sent to me, I would have lost hundreds of dollars from that campaign.

But even if you cannot stop the campaign for some reason, ClickMagick automatically pauses the ads or reroute the traffic for ads if you permit.

11. Notifications

The latest addition to ClickMagick, setting up notifications to your phone or email enables you to get alerts on certain parameters.

For instance, your landing page conversion drops below 3%.

ClickMagick will automatically send you a warning regarding this drop.

Apart from the action conversion rate, you can also trigger notifications for movements on engagement conversion, sales conversion rate, earnings per click, and average customer value.

If you want to flex a little, you can also get notifications on over-performing links if you like.

12. Import Spreadsheets

If you are like me who constantly deals with loads of links, ClickMagick is a nifty tool to have.

To save me time and effort, what I usually do with my links back then was to put them in a spreadsheet and import it into ClickMagick.

It also allows you to export any data that you can share with your team or client.

This is much easier and safer than sending screengrabs or sharing account credentials.

ClickMagick Vs. Google Analytics

If you are a huge Google Analytics user, then you might be confused by the relevance of ClickMagick.

Because apparently, ClickMagick does what Google Analytics does — tracking clicks, right?

With Google Analytics, you get to know how your visitors use your site, including reports on bounce rates, demographics, exit page, time on site, and all that jazz.

But Google Analytics is very limited and has a painfully confusing user interface for beginners — and that’s not even up for debate.

If you are really going to dig deeper into ClickMagick, you will be stunned.

ClickMagick gives you the ability to monitor your ALL your ads alongside the cost, revenue, profit, and return from those ads.

This is something Google Analytics doesn’t want you to get full access to.

And Google Ads charges you for clicks that don’t go through or come from automated bots.

With ClickMagick, it’s easy to identify these bogus clicks and get a refund from Google.

I’m not saying ditch Google Analytics by any means. That’s not the point here.

If you are making money off online marketing, adding ClickMagick to your marketing toolkit is worth its weight in gold.

ClickMagick Vs. Tracking Script

What about installing a tracking script on your web host?

Does that make a difference?

Not by a long shot.

In fact, that’s a good option, too.

However, not all good options are smart options.

Installing a tracking script has its drawbacks.

As I mentioned, ClickMagick is web-based, meaning no installation is necessary.

On top of that, you avoid problems such as hosting issues, server crashes, and database corruption.

An additional script on your website also means a possible contributor to your page’s load time.

This is something you want to avoid because load time — delayed load time for that matter — could hurt your conversion.

I’m saying this again — ClickMagick is a must-have tool for online marketers, especially those involved in buying and selling web traffic.

ClickMagick Pricing

If you subscribe to ClickMagick on an annual plan, you can save up to $207 or 26% of your yearly payment.

Those with a tight budget or are not ready to invest can opt for a monthly plan.

ClickMagick Review Conclusion

As an affiliate marketer, I have a laundry list of tools I use to make my online business more efficient and profitable.

But at times, I couldn’t help myself but get overwhelmed with all the tools I have.

Ever since I found ClickMagick, I can’t stop talking about with friends in the industry because it’s really a smart tool to give you a leg up.

As I said, ClickMagick goes beyond expectations.

I personally love everything about it, though I still have to explore some of its features.

ClickMagick definitely reduces the number of tools in my toolkit and saves me a couple of bucks.

My biggest gripe about it is the setting up of a custom domain and old-fashioned text/HTML editor.

And though it has a user-friendly interface, it has a steep learning curve. But once beginners get the hang of it, ClickMagick is a real game-changer in anyone’s marketing toolkit.

So, if you do any sort of marketing online — not just affiliate marketing — then you must invest in a good click tracking tool like ClickMagick.
